The New Woman: Ethereal

The woman who is there but not there. Ever present but indefinable.

SBS - Sex and sensibility, British -

Margaret MacDonald Mackintosh

When they presented this work on Sex and Sensibility, I actually let out a small, "whoah".

Silver Apples of the Moon -

Isn't it beautiful??

Here, have some more of her art;

The White Rose and the Red Rose 1902
The Heart of the Rose closeup 1901
The Heart of the Rose1901
Lynn Chidwick - 'MacKintosh Woman', stained glass, 2004

The Passion of Joan of Arc by Carl Theodor Dreyer 1928

I don't think I've ever seen a screen performance where someone was able to portray every possible emotion and seem so beautifully human but never actually 'weak' or 'submissive'.

I actually found this several months ago. It's quite fabulous.
